Dobbe Transport is a family-owned business with origins dating back to 1845. They are a 3PL (3rd party logistics) company providing all types of pallet transportation in the Benelux with an extensive and diverse fleet of their own equipment, including truck-mounted cranes, vehicles with truck-mounted forklifts. As well as insulated vehicles for the transport of perishables and temperature sensitive goods, such as pharmaceutical products.
The requirement
Eric Dobbe, who is responsible for all logistics at Dobbe Transport explained to us that they needed a new warehouse to help re-centralise. Due to strong incremental growth. Their storage was spread out over 8 different warehouses and it was becoming increasingly challenging to obtain a clear overview of it all. They wanted to centralise business operations by bringing all the knowledge, experience and goods under one roof.
The solution
For more than 20 years Dexion have been supplying Dobbe with warehouse equipment. There was no question of who they wanted to be a part of this new project. Firstly, Dobbe set to work themselves on dismantling the existing racking and then rebuilt it in the warehouse in Aalsmeer. A lighting plan was also drawn up and other preparations were made.
After that, we got to work in their new 10,000m2 warehouse, which also included an existing mezzanine of 1,400 m2. The goal was to make the storage more compact with as many pallet spaces as possible, whilst utlilising the available height. We supplied our P90 galvanised pallet racking with a height of almost 10 metres, creating more than 9,000 pallet spaces.
The result
The installation of the new pallet racking was a great success, with the entire project being carried out according to plan.
Final installment included:
- P90 pallet racking – 9,500mm high for 13,500 pallets up to 1,000kg/pallet, and 5 pallet levels high
- Dexion frame protectors, column protectors, anti-collapse wall protection for safety
- Complete assembly and reuse of existing materials from previous location
